About The Department
The course structure
of M.Sc. Physics is designed considering the needs of modern Physics research.
As in I Semester the students study Digital Electronics and Computer Programming
as compulsory courses along with Mathematical Physics, Classical Mechanics and
Quantum Mechanics with adequate exposure in practical on Digital Electronics and
Computer Programming. Similarly in II Sem. Computer Oriented Numerical and
Statistical Methods along with Statistical Mechanics, Classical Electrodynamics,
Spectroscopy and Quantum Mechanics are there in the course. For excellent oral
and written communication and personal skills a course in Communication skills
is also a compulsory subject. In addition to this, they also execute six week
summer training at various research institutes after their first year. III Sem.
contains an internal seminar series in which each student presents her work of
summer training. In this Sem. there is an elective paper also. In IV Sem.
besides regular courses each student performs a project under the guidance of a
faculty member. The summer training, Seminar series and Project enhance the
research aptitude in students.
