Department of Social Work
The two years Masters in Social Work
programme has commenced from 2010. The department of Social Work offers
exciting opportunities for students to gain knowledge and apply skills in many
current and emerging areas of professional Social Work practice through its flagship program, Masters in Social Work (MSW).
The department is committed to promoting the strengths of
Professional Social Work through education, research and consultancies, while
maintaining a particular focus on women and gender related issues. A number of
specializations like Human Resource Management, Women Empowerment and Medical
and Psychiatric Social Work are offered as part of the Masters Program in
Social Work (MSW). The uniqueness of our Department lies in the provision of
specialization on Women Empowerment in MSW. The department takes special care
of partnerships with the public, nonprofit and private sectors and emphasizes
student and faculty involvement in professional, service and academic
associations and organizations.
The department of Social Work prepares students for
practical interventions that is sensitive to the social, economic, cultural,
demographic and political contexts that shape our nation and beyond. Within a
framework emphasizing professional ethics, social justice, diversity,
strengths and community engagement, the department seeks to equip students for
the cutting edge practice of the modern Social Work Profession.
Other than theoretical learning the MSW students are
exposed to rigorous field visits at the grassroot level with specialized
skills like Social Mapping, Outreach community work, Liaisoning,
Communication, Counseling, Research analysis etc. They also get the opportunity to visit NGOs and other institutions serving the community on
various social issues. The department offers on the field training and
exposure of various non-profit Organizations working with Rural community,
Deprived sections, Old aged, Special children as well as government
departments namely Cecoedecon, Umang, SWRC Tilonia, Manthan, Prayatn, Vishakha,
Prayas, Digantar, Deepshikha, CAPART, Shubh Shanti Niwas, Community Health
Centres, Primary Health Centres, Block Development Office, Anganwadi Centres,
Hospitals, etc.
Achievements:

Fifteen students of the first batch of MSW course have been selected for Block Placement by various renowned Organizations namely Actionaid, Sewa Mandir, Astha, Jaipur Rugs Foundation, Astha, CINI, Kolkata, NIPCCD, Delhi, RBKS, Great India Foundation.

Out of fifteen students of Social Work department, eleven of them were selected for their jobs in various National and International NGOs and CSR, namely Azim Premji Foundation, Bengaluru; Great Indian Foundation, Delhi, Jaipur Rugs Foundation, Jaipur, Oxfam International , Jaipur, RBKS, Udaipur, Nidaan, Bihar, CFC, Agra.
