A new milestone was added to Banasthali’s
seventy five years of momentous journey on 7th March
2011 when Ericsson India launched its program EMPOWER in Banasthali University.
EMPOWER, the University Relation Program, is an initiative of Ericsson to
provide a platform to the B.Tech (Electronics and Communication) students for
the much required industry interaction. A team of three members comprising of Ms.
Supriya Kaboo, the General Manager, HR & Organization, Mr. Amit Sharma and Ms
Gishmeet Bindra represented Ericsson India in Banasthali. The program was graced
by the presence of Prof. Aditya Shastri, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Chitra
Purohit, the Secretary and Prof. G.N. Purohit, Dean, AIM&ACT and the faculty
members. The program began with a welcome by Ms Shailly Sharma, Convener,
Project placement followed by a presentation by the Ericsson team for B.Tech.
(EC) IVyear students highlighting the latest trends and opportunities in the
industry.
EMPOWER aims at bridging the gap between the
university and industry. There are three programs-CONNECT, EXCEL and CAREER
under the umbrella EMPOWER. CONNECT is the internship program for the III year
students, EXCEL is the training program and CAREER is the final hiring process
for the IV year students. This year Erricson has selected 1600 students from 40
colleges across India for training and aims to hire 2000 engineering graduates
under EMPOWER program. From Banasthali University, a total of 40 students were
selected from B.Tech. (EC) IVyear under the program EXCEL.
The Ericsson team briefed the selected students
about the six weeks training program which includes online, classroom-based and
on-site training. The hiring process (CAREER) for the entire IV year B.Tech.
(EC) batch will mark the end of the training program. From next year, Ericsson
India plans to launch CONNECT program for internships for the students of
B.Tech. (EC) IIIyear.
The program EMPOWER will certainly provide a
gateway to the students for an enriching industrial exposure and experience.
