Home Science as a discipline in Banasthali Vidyapith has evolved significantly over the years, expanding from traditional concepts of domestic management to a multidisciplinary field that integrates science, arts, and social sciences. It encompasses diverse areas such as food science and nutrition, human development, clothing and textile, family resource management, and extension education. With a growing emphasis on skill-based learning and employability, Faculty of Home Science is increasingly recognized for its role in empowering individuals, especially women, to contribute meaningfully to both the economy and society. The Faculty now offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes in Home Science, promoting research and professional development in areas like public health, dietetics, and child welfare. As the country focuses on sustainable development and inclusive growth, the Faculty of Home Science continues to play a vital role in addressing social challenges and improving quality of life and is well marching ahead to contribute to the making of Resurgent India by focusing on sustainable and inclusive practices.

Steadfast in its mission, the Faculty of Home Science strives to work dedicatedly towards women’s empowerment through socially-relevant, holistic, interdisciplinary education, in keeping with its unique philosophy of Panchmukhi Shiksha (five-fold education). The curriculum is continually innovated to make it globally valuable, locally relevant and responsive to the changing times and needs. The programmes sensitize students to the needs of others, especially of those less advantaged, and fosters a service orientation. The faculty also aims to contribute to the national and international knowledge base in Home Science and allied fields is carrying out high quality research and protecting its innovations through IPR. Due emphasis has always been given to the skill development and enhancement in the students in different curriculums. One of the premier Faculties of Home Science in India, it is ahead in education, outreach, research and innovation.
