Consolidating, strengthening and further developing the following four language skills.
Listening to andunderstanding the language spoken by the native speaker at the normal pace and rhythm on some familiar everyday topics.
Speaking
To maintain sustained conversation on the topic of general interest.
Reading
To read and understand the material provided on the programme from contemporary writings.
Writing
To compose and write on a range of topics: Descriptive, narrative, brief - essays and letters & memoirs. Exposing the learner to the cultural item of both Indian and the target language.
Initiating the learner in the use of dictionaries of colloquials and slangs and other specialized mono-lingual dictionaries.
Students will be encouraged to translate from and into the native to foreign language.

Duration of the course about 90 hrs of material will be provided for the self study and other assignments.
The language material will be relevant to the communicative and professional levels. The candidates will be prepared to present his ideas in a cogent manner.
Grammar
The student will show fairly good command of B & A level grammatical structure in their everyday use of language.
Cultural Content
The programme will include items from cinema, operas, music, art, literature and other such elements satisfying the professional needs of the learner. The focus will be on the intercultural interaction
Evaluation
Evaluation will be based on oral and written examination.
