Chairperson NABARD Mrs. Ranjana Kumar delivered convocation
address at Banasthali Vidyapith on 25th Feb 2005. She said on this occassion
that, “it is indeed a great occasion and an auspicious moment in the calendar of
events of Vidyapith. Students who are eligible to get degrees and diplomas look
forward to this day when they get the passports to enter into a new vista. Many
of you might be looking forward to do further studies either here or elsewhere.
Some of you may be looking forward to enter into a job and get settled in life.
Some may be wondering, oh! It's a great relief from the regulated student life
in the campus to a new world where you are free to choose what you value most.
Whatever may be the positions for each one of you, there is no doubt that these
few years in the campus you will cherish it more in he later part of your career
and you will go back to the down memory lane when you grow up and remember
nostalgically your campus life, your friends and buddies, your teachers,
well-wishers and several others who have influenced you directly or indirectly
in shaping your worldview to make you prepared and ready to take up challenges
in life. This is extremely important; after all, these formative years in the
campus would help you greatly to accept the responsibilities in your life. I
congratulate all of you who have successfully completed your education in the
Vidyapith, and as a mark of your persistent and perseverance, today you are
receiving degrees and diplomas in this convocation. It is through your hard
work, due diligence and consistent efforts, you have become proud recipients of
the degrees awarded. The institute is honouring you through this function for
your meritorious achievement, and we celebrate your success. All of us join
hands to greet you on this occasion and we wish you the very best in the ensuing
careers that you would like to choose. This moment of celebration is also an
occasion for cerebration and let me take this opportunity to share with you of
some of the thoughts, which come to my mind. This is not to sermonize but to
have a shared meaning through an open dialogue with you. Banasthali Vidyapith
has a wonderful history and since its establishment it has become an institution
by itself for women's education in the country. No wonder, it has been
acknowledged as an institute of excellence through the appropriate accrediting
agency. The institute has been duly recognized by UGC and it has appropriately
curved out a niche for itself in the women's education in the country. The
institute has blended well, tradition with modernity and continuously keeps
updated to make itself relevant in the current context. This is absolutely
necessary for an institution, which is trying to meet up the requirements of
human capital for our country in general, and women in particular. The course
curriculum and syllabus for the institute are tuned to the needs of our country
and I appreciate the efforts of the authorities, faculty and students to make
this happen. The knowledge of liberal arts and sciences along with the
vocational courses intermixed with information technology and bio-technology are
the useful courses which are the need of the hour to make our country modernized
both in hardware and software and globally competitive in the comity of nations.
If we are to find a place in he global market in this era of globalization and
liberalization, it is all the more important that we have an attitude and
outlookd appropriate to the current context but firmly rooted in our tradition,
not alienated from our culture, civilization and above all our value system. The
logo of Banasthali Vidyapith depicts the wonderful saying from our ancient
Sanskrit text and it says "Sa Vidya ya Vimuktye". This means –
knowledge will liberate you and hence, it is necessary for all of you to
acquire knowledge to free from the bondage of Agyan and
Avidya.”
Prof. Diwakar Shastri presided over the function and
presented Degrees and Gold medals to various outstanding students for their
performance in different examinations.
