Education
The Department has the distinction of initiating Bachelor of Education course in 1962 when it was College of Education affiliated to University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. It is one of the pioneer department of this Institution that shares major credit to its name. Most of the students passed out from this department are appointed in various educational institutions of repute. In 1998 another branch of B.Ed. was opened as an experimental group. It is an entirely learner - centered teacher preparation programme namely, B.Ed. (Enriched) which is one of the kind in the whole country. This programme was instituted in 1998 and has the approval of the NCTE. It has won wide acclaim from several national as well as international organisations.
The Masters degree programme provides a rigorous exposure to students with two fold view of developing an understanding of education as a discipline on one hand and preparing them adequately in understanding and carrying out educational research. They learn through group discussions, seminars, dissertation and library work. They are provided ample actual hands-on and field experience in this area of specialization. They are associated with teachers in providing guidance to B.Ed. students during practice of teaching as well as classroom lectures.
The department is actively engaged in research. The Ph.D. programme was instituted in the Department as early as 1965 and there are nine teachers recognized as Ph.D. guides. Till date, over forty persons have been awarded the degree. At present, there are about twenty registered research scholars pursuing their doctoral studies. Besides these, the staff undertakes research projects – both sponsored and self initiated, on themes of topical and field relevance. A noteworthy feature is that the innovative practices tried out in the department are subjected to systematic study and documentation. This helps in enhancing the level of conceptualization. Several projects financially supported by several agencies such as NCTE, UGC, MHRD and NCERT have been carried out.
The Department has a team of technically qualified and academically oriented teachers. Teachers are engaged not only in teaching but also in undertaking research projects and guiding research. They actively participate in several academic fora at regional, national and international levels, such as seminars, conferences and workshops.
The Department regularly provides academic platform for teachers to participate in and interact with other field functionaries. These are in the form of regional and national seminars on relevant themes, workshops and refresher courses. The Department has also good liaison with other university departments of education, national organisations such as NCTE, NCERT, NIEPA, CCRT, CEE, UGC and the NAAC and also with several NGOs such as Intel teach to future programme 'Reach India'.

The Department is well equipped with resources needed for providing hands-on experience in the various learning task of students. For this, there are separate units with necessary equipments, gadgets and other materials.
Units:
Educational Technology unit provides learning inputs for handling and using gadgets for teaching and preparation of software for these such as OHP, Slide Projector, Video and Audio tapes, Video Camera and public address system.
ICT unit provides adequate training to all B.Ed. students in the use of computers for developing self made material through different computer softwares and also internet browsing for discerning learning resources and integrating matter from them in their classroom teaching and other teacher roles.
Computer Assisted Learning Teaching (CALT) has been an integral part of B.Ed. and M.Ed. curriculum since 1991. Initially, it was an optional course but in the last five years it has been made a compulsory component of teacher preparation programme.
The University has signed an MOU with Intel Teach to the Future in 2003. Under this, the Intel Teach provides technical support to teachers and students teachers in the form of learning modules, periodic technical reorientation and web support. B.Ed. Student, Ms. Sweta Sindhu has been selected for “Intel Award 2005" for best integration of technology.
Psychological testing unit comprises several psychological tests such as intelligence internet connecting, learning experiments including both within and performance tasks. This unit is of great use to all students at B.Ed. and M.Ed. level in particular to the students specializing in Educational Guidance and Counselling. Subject related models, Charts and support materials are organized separately for Sciences, Mathematics, Social Sciences, Language and Home Science.
The SUPW unit has provision for training in several creative, productive activities which include Bandhej, Rexine work, Furniture polishing, Doll making and Best from Waste.
Student's Activity unit deals with organization of various cultural, sports and social activities and celebration of important days. ‘Students Guidance Corner’ is a practical group run by the students specializing in Guidance and Counselling at both B.Ed. and M.Ed. levels. Actual problems and queries of school children are analysed and answers are provided through the display board. Once a year this unit organizes the Guidance Day in which display and discussion with field experts are arranged on issues relevant to children for further education and career.
Physical Education
Physical Education is one of the important aspects of the five fold educational programme of Banasthali University. The University is well equipped with modern infrastructure for physical education and sports. Training is provided in various modern and traditional Indian games. The activities include Equestrain , Swimming, Flying, Rifle-Shooting, Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Table-tennis, Cricket, Handball, Softball, Throw ball, Judo, Football, Netball, Athletics (track & field), Aerobics, Martial arts under Modern games; and Yoga, Kho-Kho, Kabbadi, Lezium, Dumbbells, Lathi, Talwar, Bhala etc. under the traditional sport activities of India. The objective is to make sports and physical activities an important part of the daily routine making it a way of life and generate fitness awareness among the masses. The programmes of physical education provide opportunities to participate in various competitions inside the campus as intramural competitions and also at the national / state / district and inter-university tournaments as extramural competitons and thus develops personality.
