Apaji Institute has a very active Ph.D. Programme. Many Ph.D. Degrees have already been awarded and a number of registered Ph.D. students are working on areas such as Communication Networks, Design and Analysis of Graph Algorithms, Neural Networks, Natural Language Processing, Image Processing and Indian Language Computing.

The Faculty is equally active in research and development. It usually has representation in most national/ international conferences in India and sometimes abroad. There exists a close association with some leading Institutions in India and abroad. The Faculty member frequently visit TIFR, BARC, IIT-Kanpur and other institutes of eminence. Prof. Aditya Shastri has been awarded Marie Curie Fellowship by the CEC to visit Universite Du maine, Le Mans, France. Perhaps it is in recognition of the growing stature of the department that the Sixth National Seminar on Theoretical Computer Science was held in Banasthali in August' 1996. The previous conventions were held at IMSc-Madras, IIT-Kanpur and BARC. In 1999 the Institute hosted a National Symposium on "Recent Advancements in Computer Science and Technology".Visiting Professors from leading organisations are regularly invited for seminars and interaction with students.

Recently the institute has conducted major events for catalyzing research:

(i) National Seminar on Recent Trends in Combinatorics and its Applications (March, 2006), and

(ii) Training Program on 'Stochastic Process Modelling (Dec. 2-15, 2006)

(iii) National Workshop on "Models of Embedded Computation" (March 15-19, 2007)

(iv) Some recent events may be mentioned e.g. JCDM, etc.

The events were sponsored by Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India and had very distinguished experts from the fields hailing from IISc, Bangalore; ISI, Kolkata; ISI, Delhi, IIT Mumbai, IIT Madras, Texas Instruments, Bangalore, CEERI Pilani and T.I.F.R., Mumbai.

The institute also conducts sponsored research funded by various Government departments and other agencies. A remarkable achievement in this direction is the sanction of a number of projects of national importance from Ministry of Communication & Information Technology, Government of India involving development of IT in Hindi. A complete list of projects is given in Research and Consultancy on pages 12 Banasthali University has hosted an exclusive website www.ITinHindi.org to enlist the activities carried out in this field.

The institute's faculty is very active in research. Apart from working for their Ph.D. through doctoral research the faculty is also engaged in research and consultancy projects from various government and private organizations. In fact the projects not only contribute towards the academic growth of the institute but also are responsible in infrastructural development of the institute. A large proportion of hardware and application specific software are procured through the sponsored projects fund. The sections below give the detailed lists of research and consultancy projects taken up by the institute in the past as well as the ongoing projects.
